Is that a Zit? AWW HELL NO!
So we all know that
once you get a pimple, zit, and blemishes (or whatever you want to call it) it won’t
be your last one and although in some cases, you can’t get rid of them forever,
however you are able to CONTROL and limit the amount of acne!
I, myself have
suffered from bad skin since grade 6, which is pretty much every girls
nightmare and I haven’t actually bothered putting effort into getting clear
skin until last year when I knew that enough is enough and I didn’t want to
feel insecure about my skin anymore, so I decided that I would put the effort
and love that my skin deserved. So the first step on your road to clear skin is
PUT IN THE EFFORT! Because you never know that this might be the last time you
actually see your blemishes for a long time.
Ok food time! We all
know that we gotta eat, but some foods are actually better for your skin than
others as well as allowing you a healthy diet for a healthy body. That doesn’t mean
that you can’t eat chocolate or donuts, because who are we kidding, nothing is
going to stop us from eating our fave sugar sweets.
Foods to EAT/DRINK!
♥ AVACADOS!
They help prevent dry skin, brittle hair and nail, as well if applied directly
to the skin they can hydrate the skin!
♥ GREEN
TEA! Green tea contains polyphenols which is an antioxidant that is proved to
help the human body, made purely of organic substances.
♥ GET
NUTTY! Eat those almonds, Brazil nuts! By eating these nuts, this will reduce
the inflammation of your skin that can occur from acne!
♥ You
need your VITAMIN C! Oranges, tomatoes, strawberries are all proved to limit
the acne scarring and help protect
your skin.
♥ Keep
Hydrated! No, that doesn't mean soft drink! You need water, water, and more
water!! You should opt for at least 7 glasses a day; this will keep your skin
hydrated and glowing. Also if you don’t really drink water that much, try
eating watermelons or cucumbers because they will release the toxins from your
body.
♥ Omega-3? YES PLEASE! Omega-3 food such as salmon and walnuts allow your skin that
healthy glow that you know you want.
♥ If
you have hormonal acne, try foods that are high in magnesium, such as figs,
brown rice and oat meal, because this helps balance out those acne hormones.
And guys, I know this
is going to be hard but those delicious ‘white’ foods like white bread, rice,
flour, fries and mashed potato are BAD for your skin! So is refined sugar,
because if you consume a lot you will find that you will breakout a hell of a
lot more which is not what you want!
Products!
When choosing your
skincare product see if they contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide (this
helps disinfect the infected skin) because these acids help dry up acne. My top
choice for products that contain benzoyl peroxide is PROACTIVE by Rodan and Fields.
I wasn’t sure at first about trying this product because I thought it was just
another infomercial that wants you to buy their crappy product…but it wasn’t…Proactive
has literally been a lifesaver and I would definetly recommend it, however,
Proactive doesn’t suit all skin types and might cause irritation. Other
products available are those prescribed by your dermatologist, or those of the
Clearasil Brand.
*REMEMBER*
Face wipes are
important (I use the Johnson’s Face Wipes) ! By removing your makeup each
night, you have limited the amount of breakouts already! Also, try buying face
wipes that contain tea tree oil because tea tree oil can control blemishes to a
great degree.
How dare you!
If you want to get
your clear skin and keep it constant, be gentle with your skin, if products are
starting to cause inflammation, itching and are harsh on your skin, STOP! Try
finding a product that does suit your skin, it might take a while but it will
be worth it! (I have been through so many brands that didn’t give me any good
results so I have been changing products almost every month until last year
when I finally settled on my proactive).
This may come as a surprise,
but don’t wash your face with soap! This is because soap actually dries your
skin more and your skin immediately produces more oil which is bad. Soap also
contains ingredients that clog your pores so when washing your face, try
scrubs.
One thing you must
never do, even though it is so tempting (believe me, I know). Never ‘pop’ a
pimple because if you pop a pimple and it bleeds, it will leave a long-term
scar and actually make your skin worst.
Everyone tries this
but in fact it is the biggest NO-NO you can do to your skin. Never treat a
pimple with an ice cube or heat because this will cause inflammation of the
skin and actually make your skin worst.
Ok last but not
least, don’t touch your face because bacteria-which causes pimples-can be
transmitted from your fingers to your face. Also stay out of the sun! I went to
the doctors because I also suffer from Bacne (I know, eww) and she said that
even though people think the sun is good for you, it’s not. The sun irritates
dries, inflames and damages the skin which will ruin your clear skin and cause
more acne and scarring. If you are in the sun, use sun cream because not only
is it good for your skin, it benefits to your health.
Thank you for
reading! I really, really hope this has helped you and that you learnt
something new. Remember, if you have acne whether its cystic or just the
occasional pimple, you are not alone and it can be controlled so YOU can have
that beautiful glowing skin like Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively and many more!

I also find that using a creamy cleanser works really well especially Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as it has Tea Tree and Rosemary that really help to fight spots! I find face wipes kind of rub bacteria around your face instead of helping! Great post!
